"Describe a master plan that would make your community a better place to live."

  • 1
Take action. Don’t just sit back and wait for your community to get better by itself. You need to get involved. Find out what you can do to make it a better place to live. Attend community meetings and put your two cents in.

  • 2
Volunteer your time, energy, money and yourself. If there is a park clean up day, volunteer to help. Volunteer to help local businesses or homes clean graffiti off walls. Get a group of people together and pick up trash on the streets or in planters on the side of the road in your community. Pick up the trash at local parks or on local beaches. Volunteer at your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter.

  • 3
Get to know your neighbors. Know the people who live around you. Building a strong community is a team effort. You can’t do it all on your own. So get to know your neighbors and make it a goal to make your community a better place to live.

  • 4
Support local businesses. Try to shop at local businesses when you can, avoiding big box stores. “Mom and pop shops” create a home town feeling and welcoming atmosphere. Don’t let the big box stores take over your community. A few of them are okay, but you don’t want your community overrun with them.

  • 5
Restore historical land sites. Don’t let them get torn down. Head up or participate in fundraisers to raise funds that will go towards the restoration of the buildings. Preserve the history of your community.

  • 6
Support your local leaders. Get involved with volunteering at campaign time. You can also volunteer during election time. Get to know the people that are running your town. Be sure to research and become educated on prospective candidates and issues to be voted on. When it comes time to vote, turn your ballot in. You can also sign up for absentee vote if you are unable to make it to the voting site.

  • 7
Start a neighborhood watch. Keep your community safe by starting neighborhood watches. The members of the community will get involved and look out for one another. If there are suspicious looking people or suspicious activity in one’s neighborhood, local crime enforcement is contacted. Neighbors look out for each other to keep their neighborhoods safe.

  • 8
Be patient. Realize that making your community a better place to live will not happen overnight. It will take time, energy and money to get the job done. Remember, don’t sit back and wait for it to happen. You have to get involved!

  • "Describe a typical day of your life."

    my day:
alarm clock rings thinks "10 more minutes" go back to sleep wake up
    30 minutes later :D
    shower
work on my hair, eat breakfast while watching charmed (love that show)
brush teeth pack everything for the day
    go to school
go through classes and as soon as the bel rings turn on ipod and listen to my music
get home. do homework chat with friends eat dinner
    shower
    try to fall asleep.
    that basically it.

"Describe a vegetable that you truly dislike."

In a taste test, you're probably not going to choose broccoli over chocolate cake even if it is good for you, but for some people their hatred of vegetables is far more passionate. They simply refuse to add anything green to their diet. Why do some people hate vegetables and what can be done about it? If you truly despised vegetables and they weren't good for you, you could simply eliminate them from your diet without guilt. But veggies are such a rich source of antioxidants and fiber that to hate them is almost a recipe for bad health. Is there a way to make these powerhouses of nutrition more appealing to the taste buds?

Surprisingly, the hatred of vegetables may have a genetic basis. It seems that some people are programmed to be super sensitive to the healthy compounds found in vegetables, describing them as having an unpleasant, bitter taste. It's this bitterness that keeps them from adding that piping hot serving of steamed broccoli to their dinner plate. For others, they've learned to hate vegetables as a result of unpleasant childhood experiences where they were required to eat all of their vegetables before leaving the dinner table.

For whatever reason a person chooses to hate vegetables, it's important for purposes of health to find ways to make them more palatable to the taste buds. One way to improve the perceived taste of vegetables is to eat them with foods containing glutamates which help to offset some of the bitter taste. The best sources for glutamates are meats which give you a variety of options for cooking tasty meat and vegetable combination dishes. Try creating a meat and vegetable soup or stew that you've sprinkled generously with a variety of herbs to add additional flavor. Even people who hate vegetables passionately can often tolerate them in the form of a soup or stew.

Another trick for improving the taste of vegetables is to heat them to high temperatures by roasting. The roasting process creates a smoky sweet flavor as the sugars in the vegetables carmelize. This masks the objectionable bitter taste making the vegetables far more appealing to the taste buds.

"Describe your favorite season and explain why it is your favorite."

My favorite season is summer and spring. I love the summer because I can have fun in the sun, Playing with water, going over friends' houses and stuff. Summer is also the season with my birthday in there so I love Summer for that. I also love Spring because it's cool and I enjoy the newly fresh flowers that open up from the rain.

"Describe the kinds of problems this discord creates in families and the best way to handle a situation like this."

Guess who'll be the person you'll probably know the longest in your life? Yep, it's your sister or your brother.
You live together, play together, party together, eat together, laugh together and fight together.
Sisters and brothers can have terrific sharing relationships with each other, and be the closest of mates or friends.
On the other hand, sisters and brothers can infuriate each other at times.
Many things lead to arguments and fights between siblings, such as differences of opinion, misunderstandings, boredom, favouritism and manipulation.
Learning how to deal with conflict positively when you're young can set the scene for a positive relationship with your brother or sister for a long time to come, and help you learn to get along with other people outside the family
    Different opinions
Perhaps you live together, look alike, talk alike or have been taught the same things by your parents - but that doesn't mean you think alike.
You're still likely to have different opinions, talents and different ways of doing things. Expressing your differences is a way of expressing your individuality
Differences of opinion can be about the footy, music, movies, friends, etc. - so many different areas.
But differences can cause friction, arguments or conflict - especially when someone thinks that one view has to be 'right' and one 'wrong', or when talking about different views turns into putdowns or insults.
It's not all bad to have differences.
Expressing your opinion and listening to your brother's or sister's opinion can teach you new viewpoints, how to understand others and how to get along with all kinds of people. How you express your opinion is really important - check out the topic Assertiveness for some tips.
You don't have to agree with each other. It's OK to disagree and have different opinions
    Keeping the peace
The first thing people need to live together successfully is to havesome basic house rules that everyone follows.
Rules seem to work better when everyone in the house has a say about what rules should be included. They also work well when there aren't too many rules - you could end up with a law book if you go too far.
One rule that seems to works no matter where you are is 'being respectful to others'. This can cover a whole lot of positive things. It definitely excludes things like hitting or insulting another person.
Another rule that works well is 'respecting other's belongings'. This means asking before you borrow (or don't borrow at all) and looking after other people's things better than you do your own.
You and your brother or sister could sit down and work out a few rules for yourselves that suit you. If, after a while, the rules need changing, that's OK too, just as long as you change them together. Rules can help you to live together more peacefully.
    Sorting out hassles
Sometimes there can be an on-going hassle with your brother or sister that never seems to get solved. Learning how to talk things out can help you deal with those situations. Although it seems strange to think about learning to talk to your brother or sister, it's just about learning to talk to each other in a positive and respectful way.
When you deal positively with a situation, you actually feel better about yourself because you've acted more skilfully and have been a stronger person in your approach.
Here are some basic pointers to follow when trying to talk out a problem.
Listen openly to the other's point of view. This leads to understanding the other person. We all feel better if someone understands what is happening for us. And when we feel better, we're easier to get along with.
Be truly respectful to each other. Don't blame, criticise or accuse each other.
Speak calmly. If you're starting to heat up, take time out and come back to it later.
Everyone makes mistakes. If you've made a mess of things, think about how you can fix it up. It's OK to say sorry when you're wrong. All the best people do.
Stick to the issue at hand. Don't get sidetracked by other issues. Don't get sidetracked by picking on each other. If you get off the track, bring it back to the issue.

"Detail the steps you would have to take to ensure that you will make an appropriate decision regarding this major investment."

Choosing and buying computer is comparable to shopping and buying a number of other products. You have to decide on what specific product you want and you have to decide what features you want it to have. The two biggest differences with computers are that, first, they are usually an expensive investment, and two, computer technology is changing at such an astounding rate that you state-of-the-art system today will very well be an outdated piece of equipment tomorrow.
So, how do you choose and buy the right computer for you? First, you must decide what type of computer that you want and need. What kind of computer will fit your personal and/or business needs as well as your pocketbook? There are many brands on the market today that can perform admirably, butperformance is only one consideration. Make sure that whatever computer you choose is upgradable too. You need to consider parts and service too. Because, at some time or another, your machine is going to break down and you are going to need to fix it or have it fixed. Also, you are going to need to upgrade your computer system and you will need to be able to purchase the necessary parts. Unless you can do the upgrade yourself, you will need a qualified technician to do the service too.A basic computer package differs, but it is usually the computer, a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse. The computer will probably have a CD-Rom drive and at least one floppy drive. Some computers have ZIPDrives too. These are essential if you are planning on storing alot of information outside of your hard drive. One ZIP diskette has the capability of storing as much information as several regular floppy diskettes.
The computer you choose will need to have a sufficient amount of memory on it. It will also need the power to run whatever programs you choose. The Pentium chips available in computers today are very popular as they have the capability to run any type of program you could possibly want, as well as operate the system as fast as you want it to go. They come in different sizes as well as different price ranges. Be prepared to spend the money if you choose a computer with a Pentium chip.
Along with decidingon what type of processor you will need, you will also need to consider the hard drive space, or memory available. If the computer you choose does not have enough memory on it, you may not be able to run the software that you want.
Another consideration is the computer's modem. Will you use a modem? Many people are on-line in this day and age. If you need a modem, make sure that the computer you choose has a fast enough modem in it to handle yourneeds.
If you are not well-acquainted with computers and their inner workings, and you don't have a clear idea of the kind that youwill need, your best bet is to take a family member or a knowledgeable friend along with you when you go to choose and purchase computer. Don't count on a friendly salesperson to give you the advice you need in making your decision.
And, even with someone you trust with you, don't rush into a deal just because it looks good. Shoparound computer stores and do your homework first before you buy. You will be glad that you did!

Compare and Contrast: Yahoo and Google

Ever since technology was created, Internet is one of the most important factors of the human life.  The Internet is very useful for social networking or finding out what’s going on around the world. When people want to find information, there are many search engines to choose from. But in the last or so, Yahoo and Google have made their way to the top.
First, let’s go into the similarities between the two companies. Google is a public company of computer software, Internet search engine, and advertising technologies that was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The company headquarters is resided here, in California. Google strongly associates with simplicity, usefulness, search engine, maps, video sharing sites, a place to check your e-mail, and advertising.  In contrast, Yahoo is an American public corporation that provides Internet services worldwide and display advertising that was founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo. Yahoo’s headquarters is also located in California. Yahoo also offers a search engine, e-mail, maps, video sharing, and social networking websites.
But on the other hand, they both differ in many ways. Google’s wed search engine is the company’s most popular. For example, Google’s directory opens a dictionary to build the most useful tool for finding information, image search that shows more than one billion images available for viewing. Google maps are very powerful tools that can find business locations, contract information and driving directions. However, Yahoo’s search engine does best in searching for movies, finances, and travel. JP Morgan quoted that “Yahoo is the dominant search engine in the US market share for display advertising at 17%.”  Yahoo also shows the latest news and information on sports in more than twenty languages. It also has a variety of image search, maps, and products.
Both Yahoo and Google are good search engines, but it depends on the user that uses them. The main similarities of two companies are both of them provided search engine and advertising business. There are many differences between two companies such as varieties of products and usefulness of their tools. Then, both of them have an advantage and disadvantage that depends on users and information of data.
